Jeroen de Baaij (1987) is a physiologist interested in the origin of renal electrolyte disorders, including hypomagnesemia. His PhD project focused on the identification and characterization of new genes involved in renal magnesium reabsorption and resulted in the thesis "The Distal Convoluted Tubule: The Art of Magnesium Transport" in 2015. As postdoctoral researcher, he aims to understand the molecular mechanisms by which magnesium slows down the progression of diabetes mellitus.
