Yue Dong received the Medical degree from the Harbin Medical University, Harbin, China. He finished anesthesiology training at Beijing Tongren Hospital, Beijing, China, and anesthesiology research and physiology fellowships at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He is Patient Safety Researcher with the Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Epidemiology and Translational Research in Intensive Care (METRIC) group. He also teaches clinical fellows and residents for central line, airway, sedation, system thinking at the Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center. His primary research interests are: 1) using systems engineering based computer simulation to study and improve healthcare delivery process and system performance and 2) using simulation as a human factor research tool to conduct usability testing of software, devices. Dr. Dong is Chair of Systems Integration, Council for the Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation Programs, Society of Simulation in Healthcare. He is an advocate to promote use systems engineering-based modeling and simulation technology for process improvement in healthcare delivery. He also Co-Chaired the 2013 Second Asian-Pacific Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare, Shanghai, to promote medical simulation in the Asia–Pacific regions and improve healthcare quality and patient safety.
