I am Associate Editor of Elsevier's Medical Image Analysis, International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery, Tomography, and Computer Vision and Imange Understanding, and was Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging for 15 years.

My research interests comprise many aspects of computer vision, (medical) image analysis and image guided interventions. In these fields I have (co-)authored over 260 papers in these fields, of which 170 in peer reviewed journals, and of which 5 received best paper awards.

In 2017 I was elected to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts & Sciences. Previously, I had the honor and privilige to be member of the Dutch Young Academy of the Royal Academy of Sciences from 2005-2010, and member of its board in 2009-2010.
