William J. O’Connor

William J. O'Connor (M'76) was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1951. He received the doctoral degree from University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, in 1976, on magnetic fields and forces for pole geometries with saturable materials. Currently, he lectures in Dynamics and Control in UCD, National University of Ireland, Dublin, Ireland, in the School of Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering. His research interests include position control and active vibration damping of elastic mechanical systems; analysis and design of acoustic devices; development of special-purpose sensors; numerical modeling methods, particularly transmission line matrix; and analysis and computation of nonlinear magnetic fields and forces. Dr. O'Connor is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland.
