W. Feng

Wuhu Feng is a NCAS research scientist. He joined the school of Earth and Enviroment in December 2001. He is working with Professor Martyn Chipperfield using TOMCAT/SLIMCAT model for studies of stratospheric ozone depletion and upper troposphere tracer transport. He is now partly funded by NCAS to develop a new version of atmospheric chemistry transport model which will be suitable for use by the community. Dr. Feng also works with Professors John Plane at School of Chemistry and Martyn Chipperfield at ICAS for the mesospheric metal chemistry studies using the NCAR global whole atmospheric chemistry climate model. The purpose of this work is to insert the metal chemistry (Na, Fe, Ca and Mg) into the NCAR WACCM model to probes of chemistry and dynamics in the mesosphere lower thermosphere and to examine the responseof the metal layers to the solar cycle, solar proten events, noctilucent clouds and climate change in the middle atmosphere.This work is funded by NERC.
