Bio
My PhD research completed in 2017 targeted the development of low cost semiconductor photocatalysts for H2 production from alcohol-water mixtures.The use of metal (M=Pt, Pd, Au) modified TiO2 photocatalysts for industrial scale hydrogen production is not feasible due to the high cost and low abundance of these precious metals, which motivates the search for low-cost alternatives. Metallic Ni, which is a far cheaper alternative co-catalyst, and demonstrates excellent performance as a H2 evolution co-catalyst. In my current role as Research Fellow, I am attempting to develop metal-organic-framework (MOFs)-based materials for gas storage, catalysis and optical sensing. This work is part of a nationwide MacDiarmid Institute collaboration with CSIRO (Australia) and funded by MBIE Catalyst Fund.
