Tao Wang

Dr. Tao Wang is currently a Technologist/Scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory / Caltech. He graduated from Texas A&M University, working with Dr. Andrew Dessler on issues regarding climate change. His research topics include cirrus in the tropical tropopause layer (TTL) and their formation mechanisms, water vapor (H2O), and chemical (O3, CO, N2O, SF6, etc.) transport in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS). Before he came to the United States, he worked on lightning detection and protection at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences. He developed a lightning location algorithm for lightning detection arrays applicable to VLF and VHF bands. For this part of the work, he already received 4 patents.
