Thierry Cardinal

Research Director at CNRS at ICMCB. PhD from University of Bordeaux in 1997. Join the ICMCB in 1998. Since 2016. Director of the IRP LUMAQ (International Associate Laboratory and International Research Project) on photonics and Lasers between University of Bordeaux, Laval University and INRS in Canada. A large part of my research and management activity is devoted to establish Research multidisciplinary programs mixing optics and chemistry. I am specialized in new inorganic materials for photonics and laser structuring. I had investigated nonlinear optical properties in glass (Kerr effect and Raman Gain). I demonstrated the advantage of noble ion containing glass for implementing, using direct femtosecond laser writing process, local luminescence and second order nonlinearity. I am developing in University of Bordeaux a research program on specialty fibers.
