Research is focused on the interface between chemistry and biology and particularly on the use of supramolecular systems for drug and gene delivery and in novel antibacterial treatments. Current projects include: Gene delivery through functionalised multicalixarenes Cell imaging using fluorescently labelled macrocycles Anti-adhesives as antibacterials Site-specific pro-drug systems New antibiotics related to algae extracts Synthesis of new macrocyclic systems
