Spring Berman (Member, IEEE) received the M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. From 2010 to 2012, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow in computer science with Harvard University. She was then an Assistant Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering with Arizona State University, where she has been an Associate Professor, since 2018. Her research focuses on the analysis of behaviors in biological and engineered collectives and the synthesis of control strategies for robotic swarms.
