FIELDS OF RESEARCH Earth sciences Public participation and community engagement Other education not elsewhere classified RESEARCH INTERESTS Rapid Characterisation of Earthquakes & Tsunami (Rapid CET) New Zealand is a very seismically active are and has an extensive coastline, making our tsunami risk high. When an earthquake occurs, our current methods require a hands-on, time-intensive data process to determine if a tsunami may occur and where the worst of the shaking occurred. Rapid CET is developing a suite of machine learning processes to expedite this process, allowing for faster tsunami warnings.
