Sohey Nihashi received the B.S. degree in fisheries sciences and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in environmental earth science from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, in 1996, 1998, and 2001, respectively. He joined the National Space Development Agency of Japan (formerly the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), Tokyo, Japan, in 2001, as a Research Associate. He was a National Research Council Research Associate with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, USA, from 2002 to 2004, and then he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Institute of Low Temperature Science, Hokkaido University, from 2004 to 2010. Since 2010, he has been an Associate Professor in mechanical engineering with the National Institute of Technology, Tomakomai College, Tomakomai, Japan. His research interests include sea-ice and its interaction with ocean, climate system, and microwave remote sensing in polar regions.
