Sigrùn Karlsdóttir received the Dr.Sc. degree in meteorology, with specialization in atmospheric chemistry, from the University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway, in 2000. Since July 2000, she has been with the Icelandic Meteorological Office, where she led the Forecasting Division from 2004 to 2008 and has been the Chief Project Manager of natural hazards since 2009. She has been involved with different tasks related to meteorology, volcanic eruptions, and distribution of ash clouds.
