Sebastian Reich

Sebastian Reich received the Graduate and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Dresden, Dresden, Germany, in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Before joining the University of Potsdam, Potsdam, Germany, as a Professor of numerical analysis in 2004, he was a Lecturer with the University of Surrey and a Professor of applied and computational mathematics with Imperial College London. He currently holds a joint appointment with the University of Reading, where he serves as the Chair of the research committee for the EPSRC Centre of Doctoral Training Mathematics of Planet Earth. He is the speaker of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center SFB 1294 Data Assimilation—The seamless integration of data and models. He is the coauthor of two monographs on simulating Hamiltonian dynamics and on data assimilation as well as more than 100 research publications. Dr. Reich was a recipient of the Dahlquist Prize of the American Society of Applied Mathematics in 2003.
