Samuel A. Cohen

Samuel A. Cohen received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, in 1968 and 1973, respectively. He is a Lecturer with rank of Professor in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences and Director of the Program in Plasma Science and Technology at Princeton University. His research is on plasma physics for controlled fusion, with focus on the reversed-field configuration (FRC), an innovative confinement concept that holds much promise for clean compact fusion reactors. He has published over two hundred refereed papers, co-edited three books, and co-authored two books. For 13 years, he served as the Resident Associate Editor of Physics of Plasmas. Dr. Cohen has won MIT's Goodwin Medal for Distinguished Teaching and is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
