Bio
Dr. Mihailov leads the Fibre Photonics group within the National Research Council Canada where he manages research into nonlinear applications of optical fibre, laser-material processing and femtosecond-laser based manufacturing of fiber Bragg gratings for applications in sensing and communications. He is an experimental physicist with over 30 years’ experience in scientific research in academia, industry and government. He is a co-inventor on 25 issued and pending patents related to optical fiber component technology. Dr. Mihailov is also a co-author on over 250 scientific journal publications, book chapters and conference proceedings related to fiber Bragg grating technology. He is skilled in government program and project planning as it relates to research and development.
