S.B. Sainath obtained Doctoral and Post-Doctoral training in Prof. Reddy’s Lab, Department of Zoology, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India and CIIMAR, University of Porto, Portugal. He joined as a Ph.D Scholar (2006) under the guidance of Prof. P. Sreenivasula Reddy who is well recognized and one of the finest scientists in the areas of Aquaculture Biotechnology, Mammalian Molecular Endocrinology and Toxicology. S.B. Sainath obtained Doctoral degree (2010) from Department of Biotechnology, S.V. University, Tirupati, AP, India. During his doctoral program, he conducted practical classes and assisted M.Sc students, Dept. of Biotechnology in their dissertation work. He also worked as Junior Research Fellow (UGC) and Senior Research Fellow (ICMR) under the projects sanctioned to Prof. P.S. Reddy. He obtained Post-Doctoral training in Prof. Reddy’s lab (Feb’ 2010- July 2012), S.V. University, Tirupati and CIIMAR, University of Porto, Portugal (August-Till date). In Prof. Reddy’s lab, he worked in two challenging areas like Crustacean Endocrinology and Mammalian Reproductive Toxicology where he got an opportunity to understand the aminergic regulation of ovarian maturation in crustaceans and toxic effects of endocrine disruptors on mammalian reproduction in rodents as animal models, respectively. In CIIMAR, he is currently working on modulation of nuclear receptor signaling pathways by endocrine disrupting chemicals: invertebrate insights. As you can see, his research is focused on the integration of control mechanisms from the organismal level down to the tissue architecture and coincide a blend of both applied and basic research in to physiology and cell biology.
He has attained national and international recognition, as demonstrated by his publication record. To his credit, he published 15 articles peer-reviewed high impact journal articles, authored/coauthored 3 books and presented his research data in several conferences. He has been the member of Academic and Professional bodies of National and International repute. He is recipient of University Merit Fellowship (2006), S.V. University, Tirupati India and Best Young Scientist Award (2008) from S.V. University College of Sciences, Tirupati, AP, India at National level and also recipient of Foundation of Science and Technology Fellowship Award (2012), Portugal at international level.
