I am a statistical geneticist developing and applying analytic approaches to identify the genes predisposing to genetically complex disorders such as autism, schizophrenia and coronary artery disease. Knowing the risk genes will allow us to develop therapies in a more thoughtful way. My expertise and experience in statistical genetics is critical for gene-finding endeavors, because the underlying genetic architecture for each trait is likely to be unique, requiring the ability to apply and interpret complicated statistical analyses. I have an educational background in mathematics, statistics, and human genetics. Over the past 35 years, I have been conducting research to develop and apply statistical approaches for gene identification, and, I have a particular interest in risk genes at quantitative trait loci (QTL).
