Radu Setnescu was born in Fagaras, Romania, in 1957. He received the degree from the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University Politehnica of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, in 1980, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Bucharest, Bucharest, in 1998. He followed his master thesis in radiation chemistry at the University Politehnica of Bucharest in 1981. He has been a Staff Member of the National Institute for Research and Development in Electrical Engineering, Bucharest, since 1985. He has been a Full Professor with the Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Valahia University of Targoviste, Targoviste, Romania, since 1999. He is currently an Associate Researcher with the Laboratory of Radiochemistry and Polymeric Materials, Bucharest. He has coauthored more than 140 scientific articles, of which 120 are in ISI quoted journals (>660 citations, without self-citations, and Hirsch index = 16), as well as 12 books or book chapters and 18 patents. His scientific and technical interests concern the area of spectroscopy and thermal analysis methods, materials aging, and radiation processing of materials.
