R. Edwin García received the Physics degree from the National University of Mexico, Coyoacán, Mexico, in 1996 and the Master's degree in materials science and engineering in 2000 and the Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2003. He is currently an Associate Professor of Materials Engineering with Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. Before moving to Purdue in August 2005, he held a Postdoctoral Researcher appointment with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, MD, USA. His research group focuses on the development models and guidelines that lead to experiments and processing operations with improved properties, performance, and reliability. He has published more than 46 papers in international journals and has presented more than 180 talks at international conferences. Dr. García received the 2007 ACerS Coble Award and 2013 Irskine Scholarship.
