My lab is interested in the dynamics and molecular machineries of eukaryotic membrane traffic, with a particular emphasis on COP I vesicle proteins and their interactors. We employ fluorescently labelled AB5 bacterial toxins as model cargo. Further, we study the dynamics and life cycle of gap junctions which mediate direct cell-cell communication. We use sophisticated low-light fluorescence live cell imaging and FRET methods, as well as techniques of molecular cell biology and biochemistry.
