Bio
My group is actively engaged in enhancing the commercial value of Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha), a high valued medicinal plant through biotechnological interventions. A large number of protocols for its rapid multiplication, in vitro regeneration and transformation using various explants have been developed. My lab also focuses on deeper understandings of the biosynthesis, accumulation, and modulation of important secondary metabolites of W. somnifera. Besides medicinal plant research, my group is also involved in deciphering strategies for abiotic stress tolerance in rice by employing wide range of experimental tools and genetic resources.
