Philipp Zanger is a medical doctor with specialist training in infectious diseases and tropical medicine. He conducts research at the Institute of Public Health at Heidelberg University in Germany and serves as a infectious diseases epidemiologist to the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate. He is particularly interested in studying the impact of travel and migration on the spread of pathogens and infectious diseases. This work includes outbreak investigations, population based studies on host factors as determinants for colonization and infection as well as the coordination of StaphTrav - the multicenter network on imported S. aureus.
