Paul Galvin

Paul Galvin received the B.Sc. degree with honors in zoology in 1990 from the University College Cork. He received the Ph.D. degree in 1995, on the “Molecular genetics of Atlantic salmon in the River Shannon system in Ireland” jointly from the University College, Cork, Ireland, and The Queen's University of Belfast. He spent a six-month period as a Research Assistant with the Salmon Research Trust, Mayo, Ireland. from 1994 to 2000, he was a Research Fellow with the University College Cork working on a number of projects involving the development of novel DNA profiling techniques for marine species, and their application to population structure analysis. In 2000, he joined the Tyndall National Institute, where he now leads a research team in nanobiotechnology. He has published more than 35 peer-reviewed articles in physics, engineering, biology, and chemistry journals.
