He specializes in the interdisciplinary management of brain tumor patients. He is involved in various clinical trials as well as preclinical research aiming at developing novel therapeutic strategies, with a particular focus on immunotherapeutic approaches for brain tumor patients. His current research focuses are the mechanisms underlying glioma immune escape, novel approaches to enhance the immunogenicity of glioma cells, and the analysis of new compounds for anti-glioma therapy.

Research focus
We are investigating the interaction between glioma cells and the immune system with a particular focus on novel immunotherapeutic strategies. The following specific aims will be investigated:
Generation of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells against novel targets on glioma cells
Characterization of the activity and distribution of CAR T cells upon administration in appropriate glioma animal models
Development of a study protocol that allows the assessment of CAR T cells in glioblastoma patients
