Dr Pascal Pineau is currently scientist at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. Dr Pineau graduated from Paris XI University in 1998 and took a position of permanent scientist in Institut Pasteur in 2000. He is in charge since 2010 of the Head of studies in the Systematic Virology course. Dr Pineau has published in the area of cancer genetics and molecular virology especially in the field of hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatitis viruses. His main research interests are in the molecular epidemiology of primary liver cancer with a particular attention given to chromosome instability and somatic mutations in correlation with viral infections and exposure to environmental mutagens. Dr Pineau is a pioneer in the somatic and/or inherited genetics of hepatocellular carcinoma from low incidence areas as Northern-Africa, Russia or South-America.
