Pascal Lee

Dr Pascal Lee is a Senior Planetary Scientist at the SETI Institute, the Chairman of the Mars Institute, and Director of the NASA Haughton-Mars Project at NASA Ames Research Center. His research focuses on the physics of the regoliths and interiors of Small Bodies, including the two moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, and the evolution of water on Mars. He has participated in the development of Asteroid, Phobos/Deimos, Moon, and Mars human exploration mission architectures for NASA. Dr Lee holds a MS and PhD in Astronomy and Space Sciences from Cornell University, and a ME in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Paris. His PhD thesis was on the Physical Properties and Processing of Asteroid Regoliths and Interiors. He has led, or participated in, over 30 polar missions to conduct fieldwork in planetary science and exploration in the Arctic and Antarctica, and is a recipient of the United States Antarctic Service Medal. Dr Lee has over 100 scientific publications, including a book titled “Mission: Mars” (Scholastic).
