Prof Hogg has made novel, small-molecule inhibitors of mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT), GSAO and PENAO, that are currently being trialled in patients with solid tumours. Cystemix Pty Ltd was formed to manage the commercial development of this suite of drugs. Prof Hogg has invented an effective small molecule non-invasive imaging agent for dying and dead cells. This technology will have many applications both in the research arena and in clinical practice. Its most obvious clinical utility is for monitoring cancer therapy.
