Nicolae Tapus (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the Politehnica Univeristy of Bucharest, in 1972. From 1972 to 1978, he was a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Science, Politehnica University of Bucharest. From 1978 to 1990, he worked as an Assistant Professor, and then, from 1990 to 1992, he worked as an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Science. Since 1992, he has been a Full Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Science. He also coordinates the activity at the level of the data centers with the Politehnica University of Bucharest, ensuring the functioning of the eLearning and high performance computing (HPC) services necessary for the teaching and research components. His research interests include computer architecture, cluster and grid computing, parallel architectures, parallel computing, distributed systems, and networking.
