Nina Merkle received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mathematics from the University of Applied Science Regensburg, Regensburg, Germany, in 2011 and 2013, respectively. She is working toward the Ph.D. degree in remote sensing at the Remote Sensing Technology Institute (IMF), German Aerospace Center (DLR), Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Since 2014, she has been a Research Fellow with the Remote Sensing Technology Institute, German Aerospace Center. In spring and autumn 2016, she was a Guest Scientist with the Computer Science Department, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada. Her current research interests include image matching and registration of multisensor satellite data and machine learning techniques, especially deep learning and its applications in the field of remote sensing.
