Bio
Niklaus Kämpfer received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from
the University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland, in 1979 and 1983, respectively.
Since 1994, he has been a Professor of Applied Physics and the Head of the Microwave Department, University of Bern.
After his Ph.D. thesis on the analysis and interpretation of solar flares, he changed his field of interest and pursued
research in microwave radiometry of the atmosphere, where he was involved in the development of the Millimeter-wave
Atmospheric Sounder, a space shuttle experiment. His research interests are microwave remote sensing of the atmosphere
and optics in the millimeter and submillimeter ranges.
