Research Interests:
Malignant tissue removed during surgeries is frozen, sectioned into thin slices, stained, imaged with a microscope (2D images), and assessed by pathologists to provide intraoperative consultations. The frozen section procedure is lengthy, slows down surgeries, inflicts extra operating room cost, and is less accurate than permanent sections. Here, we will develop a product that quickly prepares the tissue and enables 3D visualization of the tissue, potentially saving time, money, and lives.
