Michael R. Maughan

Michael R. Maughan received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho, Moscow, ID, USA, in 2005 and 2007, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in materials engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA, in 2015. From 2007 to 2012, he worked in industry developing consumer products as a Designer and the Engineering Manager. During this time, he was awarded five patents. From 2012 to 2015, he was a Research Assistant at Washington State University and Purdue University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Idaho. His research spans the fields of mechanical and materials engineering, studying the microscale properties, behavior, failure, and manufacture of materials and mechanical systems. Dr. Maughan is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Idaho.
