Matts Karlsson performed his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering at Linköpings Universitet and received the MSc degree in 1989. In 1995, he received the PhD degree in applied thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, also from Linköpings Universitet. The title of the thesis was: “On Modelling of Constriced Blood Flow—Mitral Regurgitation and Aortic Coarctation.” In 1995-1996, he was a research fellow at the Falk Cardiovascular Research Center, Stanford University and a visiting investigator at the Research Institute/Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Currently, he is a professor of biomedical engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Linköpings Universitet.
