Martin Johr

Martin Jöhr was the leader of Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Department of Anaesthesiology at the Luzerner Kantonsspital in Switzerland. With over 40 years of hands on experience, he is now dedicated to teaching and writing extensively on the topic of paediatric anaesthesia. Biographical data: Born in Solothurn, Switzerland. Since 1974 married to Dr. Benedikta Jöhr-Koch. Professional Qualifications and career steps: Medical school (University of Berne) 1971 to 1977. Doctoral thesis 1980. Qualified as an anaesthesiologist 1986 (“Facharzt für Anästhesiologie FMH”). Oberarzt 1985; Leitender Arzt 1989; Co-Chefarzt 2008. Teaching and educational experience: Principal lecturer at the Swiss Annual Review Course for anaesthesiologists (1993-2017). Principal lecturer at the German Review Course for anaesthesiologists (2003-2016). Principal lecturer at the Austrian Review Course for anaesthesiologists since 2013. Chair of the Subcommittee for Paediatric Anaesthesia at the German Congress of Anaesthesiology (2007-2012). Member of the Subcommittee for Paediatric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the European Congress of Anaesthesiology (2010-2014). Examiner for the Swiss National Anaesthesia Society (1987-2015) and for the European Academy of Anaesthesiology/ESA (1993-2016). Member of the DAAF (Deutsche Akademie für anästhesiologische Fortbildung) since (2010-2021). Since the late 1980’s numerous lectures on various topics concerning paediatric anaesthesia. Author of various book chapters, editorials, review articles and research papers. Author of the German textbook “Kinderanästhesie”; first edition 1990, 9th edition 2019, in Italian 2020. Author of the textbook "Managing Complications in Paediatric Anaesthesia", 2018. Author of the textbook "Fälle: Komplikationen in der Kinderanästhesie" 2022. Editorial experience: Editor for Paediatric topics in DerAnaesthesist (1998-2017). Section editor for paediatric anaesthesia in Current Opinion in Anaesthesiology (2006-2007). Reviewer for various journals (e.g. Paediatric Anaesthesia, European Journal of Anaesthesiology, Anesthesiology, British Journal of Anaesthesia, Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, Pediatrics, Saudi Medical Journal, Anaesthesiologie & Intensivmedizin, Anaesthesist).
