个人简介
Both, her initiation at research in 1994, and its progress up to 2006 took place at the Institute for Applied Magnetism "Salvador Velayos" (UCM-ADIF) which main activity is focused on two aspects: basic research and development of applications of magnetic materials. Following these criteria, her scientific activity is structured in two main groups: the basic one on properties of amorphous and nanostructured magnetic materials and the applied one on the development of magnetic sensors and actuators, mainly for the biomedical field. From June 2006 until December 2009, her research activity was developed in the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC). There, her research focused on processing, characterization and development of metallic materials for structural biomedical applications. Since then, when she came back to IMA and including two years in a company she has worked with magnetic nanoparticles and its application in hyperthermia as well as in the development of some devices as a point-of-care coagulometer based on magnetoelastic materials, a measurement system for determining the power generated by magnetic nanoparticles under an electromagnetic field and an electromagnetic system to stimulate the muscles involved in the Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome.
Her main research line is “Magnetic materials and devices for biological and medical applications”. Regarding the materials she has worked with nanoparticles as well as with bulk materials and even with biological materials characterizing the electrical properties of different organs and tissues of experimental animals. In the framework of nanoparticles research, the studies have been mainly focused on the influence of the structure and capping in their magnetic response as well as their heating capacities under electromagnetic fields. In the case of bulk materials the goal was to analyse the effect of different surface modification techniques in some metallic biomaterials in use (Ti6Al4V and 316LVM SS) as well as to develop new biodegradable and bioresorbable composites (PLLA/Mg) for its application in osteosynthesis as alternative to bulk Mg-base alloys. Currently she is working as assistant PhD professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid at the Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering and Electronic Technology Department. Her research work is focused on the study of the effect of electromagnetic fields in two different fields: Degradation of metallic biomaterials and the modification of properties of polymeric materials reinforced with magnetic nanoparticles.
