Marc Simard received the bachelor’s degree in physics from Queen’s University, Kingston, ON, Canada, in 1992, and the master’s degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree in geomatic sciences from Université Laval, Québec, QC, Canada, in 1994 and 1998, respectively. He is a Senior Research Scientist with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, USA. He is the Principal Investigator of the NASA Delta-X airborne mission. He also works on the development of future mission such as the surface topography and vegetation (STV) to map and monitor Earth’s surface in 3-D. He is also Project Scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA, and a Gund Affiliate with the University of Vermont, Burlington, VT, USA. His main research interests are the development of remote sensing algorithms and missions to study forest and wetland ecosystems and their hydrology. His most recent research focuses on coastal regions. Dr. Simard is a member of the International Blue Carbon Working Group and the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission.
