Marc Humbert

Marc Humbert, MD, PhD, is Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor of Respiratory Medicine in Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is the Director of the French Reference Centre for Pulmonary Hypertension and Severe Asthma Clinic, Department of Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine, Hôpital Bicêtre, Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris. Along with membership to several scientific councils and institutes, Marc Humbert is the current Director of the Université Paris-Saclay/INSERM Unit 999 (Pulmonary Hypertension: Pathophysiology and Innovative Therapies). He has been the Chief Editor of the European Respiratory Journal from 2013 to 2017 and currently Section Editor in charge of pulmonary vascular medicine. He has published more than 1,000 peer-reviewed articles (H index 170 Google Scholar, 128 WoS), mostly in the field of respiratory medicine with an emphasis in pulmonary hypertension and severe asthma. He is the Past President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS). He is a Fellow of the ERS (FERS Foundation Fellow) and has received several distinctions including the 1997 François Brenot Award and the 2006 Cournand Lecture Award from the ERS, the 2009 Descartes-Huygens Award from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the 2016 Rare Disease Award of the Fondation de France (Fondation Eliane and Gérard Pauthier), the 2018 ERS Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, the 2019 French Breath Foundation Excellence Award , and the 2020 American Heart Association’s 3CPR (Council on Cardiopulmonary, Critical Care, Perioperative and Resuscitation) Distinguished Achievement Award. Marc Humbert is the coordinator of the French Reference Network on rare respiratory diseases (RespiFIL) and the vice-coordinator of the European Reference Network for rare respiratory diseases (ERN-LUNG). Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics list Marc Humbert as one of the world's highly cited researchers in the field of Clinical Medicine.
