Michael Lahanas

Michael Lahanas completed the study of physics at the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany, and received the Diploma for the Ph.D. degree thesis at the Max-Planck Institute of nuclear physics, Heidelberg, Germany, in 1986. He earned his PhD in physics in 1991. He is currently a senior researcher at the Department of Medical Physics and Engineering of the Radiological Clinic in Offenbach, Germany, where he is included in a number of Projects related to Medical Physics and Engineering. While he was doing the Ph.D. degree studies he worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of high energy physics, Heidelberg (1987–1988) and Research Assistant at the Institute of nuclear physics. Frankfurt (1989–1993). He is author and coauthor of more than 50 papers in the fields of medical physics, high-and low-energy nuclear physics, and medical imaging. His main interests include optimization techniques using classical and genetic algorithms, real time dose calculation, three—dimensional medical visualization techniques and radiological treatment planning systems.
