After a life science education followed by over 20 years of research experience in departments of mathematics and computer sciences, my expertise is at the interface of life sciences and data sciences. My ambition is to leverage the strengths of modern data sciences to transform rich, complex biomedical data into actionable insights. My research team is part of the Adrem data lab (Dept. Computer Sciences), which has a long-standing track record on algorithmic foundations as well as applications of data sciences. My team studies pattern discovery, machine learning and bioinformatics techniques that transform biomedical data in computational decision support solutions. My team supports a wide range of (pre-)clinical research projects ranging from systems biology to personalized medicine with innovative data analysis and interpretation technologies. We actively aim to translate our research to economical and societal impact, for example through patent applications, industrial collaborations and through the incorporation of new spin-off companies.
