Lakshmish Kaushik was born in Hassan, India. He received the B.E. and M.A.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Visveswaraiah Technological University (VTU), Karnataka, India, INRS-EMT (University du Quebec), Montreal, QC, Canada, respectively, and is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at the University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, TX, USA. He worked as Research Assistant at MILE Lab, Indian Institute of Science, developing Text-to-Speech systems in Indian Languages. During 2010–2012, he worked for Nuance Communications where he focused on research and development of Natural Language Understanding systems in Mobile environments. He interned with the Speech Recognition group at Sony Research, Foster city, in 2014. Since 2012, he has been a part of The Center for Robust Speech Systems (CRSS), The University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, TX, USA. His research interests include automatic speech recognition, Keyword Recognition, Automatic Sentiment analysis, natural language understanding, and human behavior analysis using speech.
