Professor Ng’s contributions to the medical research field are varied and include breast imaging, radiological protection, radiation dosimetry, and risk communication. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, 80 conference proceedings papers, 20 book chapters and is the co-editor of 4 books. Apart from this, he has delivered over 430 scientific papers, of which more than 200 were invited lectures.
Professor Ng acts as the co-founder and co-editor in chief of the open-access e-journal Biomedical Imaging and Intervention Journal (www.biij.org). He is concomitantly involved in editing other journals such as the European Journal of Medical Physics, Singapore Medical Journal, Journal of Mechanics in Medicine and Biology, International Journal of Medical Physics, and World Journal of Radiology. Moreover, he is a reviewer for more than 15 international journals.
Professor Ng currently serves as an IAEA expert/consultant and a member of the International Advisory Committee (EMF) of the World Health Organization. He was previously an advisor for the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). He is also the Founding President of the South East Asian Federation of Medical Physics (2000-2006) and was the Immediate Past President of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (2010-2012).
In 2013, Professor Ng was honored as one of the top 50 medical physicists in the world by the International Organization for Medical Physics.
