Experienced Planetary Astronomer specializing in the use of space-based UV observations to study planetary atmospheres and surfaces. Demonstrated expertise ranging widely from Io, the Moon, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Jupiter system, Mars, and Ceres, to Pluto, Charon, and Arrokoth. I’ve investigated plumes, atmospheres, exospheres, aurora, plasma environments, surface reflectance mapping, surface composition, and volatile transport related processes. Mission activities include Principal Investigator (PI) on the Europa Clipper Ultraviolet Spectrograph (UVS), PI on the LRO Lyman Alpha Mapping Project (LAMP), Deputy PI on the JUICE-UVS, CoI on Mars Express SPICAM, and New Horizons Encounter Team and Alice instrument team member. PI and CoI of numerous Hubble Space Telescope guest investigator and other observational astronomy programs. Developed a vacuum-UV chamber for planetary volatile reflectivity lab studies. Led a project to develop UV sensitive CMOS detectors. Experience with several mission and instrument design studies, the latest of which focuses on integrating cavity enhanced Raman spectroscopy.
