Kaushal Patel

Kaushal Patel is currently a Vacuum Responsible Officer, serving as a Scientific Officer with the Aditya Upgrade Operation Division, Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, India. He joined the Aditya Vacuum Group in 2001 after completing the B.Sc. degree in physics. In 2008, he joined the ITER Diagnostic Team as a Diagnostic Technical Officer, where he implemented diagnostic interfaces during design evolution for various diagnostics located in different areas, zones, buildings, in different phases, i.e., conceptual, preliminary, and final. He was involved in integration of diagnostics inside an ITER tokamak vacuum vessel, port plug, port-cell interspace, and gallery. In 2013, after rejoining IPR, he has been involved in various projects related to Aditya Tokamak Upgradation. He is a Key Member of the team, who lead the design from scratch to commission the Aditya-U tokamak Vessel and its pumping system. He handled responsibility to deliver the integrated baking system for the Aditya-U vessel and associated subsystems, and later on, it has now evolved to a turn-key system. He took the lead in design to integration of limiter and divertor—plasma facing graphite tiles and its support structure. He has contributed immensely to ADITYA tokamak, its operation and upgradation (Aditya-U Tokamak), while working with these various tokamaks: Aditya, ITER, Aditya-U, and so on. He contributed as the author/coauthor in several peer-reviewed journal publications.
