DR. KASTURI BHATTACHARJEE, MS, DNB, FRCSEd is presently ACADEMIC COORDINATOR and Head, Deptt. Of Orbit, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeries and Oculofacial Aesthetics and Cataract and Refractive Surgery at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, India. She is the First Lady Ophthalmologist of North East India to receive her FRCS from Edinburgh, UK in her first attempt. Dr Kasturi Bhattacharjee is the recipient of more than 23 prestigious awards for her work in Ophthalmology. She has trained more than 80 Fellows in Orbit and Oculoplasty, Comprehensive and in Cataract and Refractive Surgeries. Moreover she has delivered many Key Note addresses and Orations in State and National Conferences on OCULOPLASTICS , OCULAR ONCOLOGY AND OCULOFACIAL AESTHETICS She was the Senior and Chief Instructor on Eyelid Surgery in the American Academy of Ophthalmology Conference( AAO), Chicago 2016 and USA 2018. She has performed LIVE SURGICAL DEMONSTRATION on various surgeries of Oculoplasty and on Phacoemulsification in many state, national and international conferences. She has written more than 10 chapters in many textbooks of Ophthalmology For the last 12 years she is an Examiner of FRCS (Ophthalmology), Glasgow. Dr Bhattachrajee has keen interest on Basic and Clinical RESEARCH. She has been involved as an Investigator in many Intramural and Extramural Researches. She has been doing research on - Mesenchymal differentiation of Ocular STEM CELLS. - Navigation Guided External Optic Canal decompression for Traumatic Optic Neuropathy - Confocal Corneal Changes following Refractive surgeries. - Multiple research related to Retinoblastoma - Visual Quality , Tear Volume Parameters and Ocular Surface Changes following Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty in Dermatochalasis She was the General Secretary of OCULOPLASTICS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA for 2 consecutive terms from 2008 -2012 and the immediate Past Vice President of Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeries.
