Dr. Hoffman’s clinical research focuses on developing shorter duration and less burdensome radiation treatment regimens, using genomics and AI to optimize the use of systemic therapy with radiation, and using patient-reported outcomes to inform decision-making. She has published over 225 peer-reviewed manuscripts including first-author publications in JAMA and JCO and has an h-index of 50.

Nationally, she is either the Principal Investigator or on the leadership team of six multi-center randomized trials that are defining practice, including PI of NRG Oncology’s GU-013 “High Five” trial of SBRT for high risk prostate cancer, PI of the PROSTATE-IQ Trial using ARTERA.ai in the post-prostatectomy setting, PI of the SAPHIRe trial for hypofractionated nodal radiation of breast cancer, and various leadership roles on NRG GU-009/PREDICT-RT, FORMULA-509, and InPACT trials. She also has extensive experience studying the patient-reported quality of life of men with prostate cancer, including being the lead author on the 5-year results of the CEASAR study which was published in JAMA.

Dr. Hoffman leads the writing of national guidelines through American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the VA, American Radium Society, and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) - including as prior chair of the ASTRO Guidelines Committee. She has served on the program committees of the top oncology meetings including ASCO, ASCO-GU, and ASTRO. In addition, she sits on the executive committee of the Commission on Cancer representing ASTRO’s interests and is MD Anderson’s senior representative to the NRG GU Core Committee.
