My research involves studying explosions on the surfaces of dead stars, searching for variable and transient radio sources, and creating high-resolution images of astrophysical objects (stars, galaxies, nebulae, etc.). I have published several articles in professional journals, including Nature and The Astrophysical Journal. I regularly attend professional conferences and workshops where I present my results in short lectures or with posters. I have been awarded over $200,000 in grant funding for my projects. My job duties also include coordinating the efforts of international collaborations, training graduate students, and teaching introductory undergraduate courses. I also participate in many outreach activities to present the exciting advances we are making to a general audience. These outreach activities include public lectures at planetariums, regular events for Astronomy On Tap (a nation-wide organization of astronomy outreach activists who organize events at bars), and annual events like Astronomy Night on the National Mall.
