Juan Luis Steegmann

Dr. Juan Luis Steegmann is Senior Consultant Haematologist and Head of the Advanced Therapies in Oncohaematology Group at the Research Institute of the Hospital Universitario de la Princesa (IIS-IP) in Madrid, Spain. Since 2019 he is congressman in the Congreso de los Diputados, the national parliament of Spain. Born in Madrid in 1955, he obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and now exerts his academic and research activities at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he earned his PhD degree. Dr. Steegmann is currently serving as President of the CML Group of the Spanish Haematology Society, and he is President of the Board of the Spanish Registry on CML. Over the course of his career, he has published more than 150 papers on leukaemia and other haematological malignancies, and he is author or editor of several books on these topics. He has served as president of the Board of the Spanish Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Group from 2010 to 2021. He is the president of the board of the Spanish Foundation for the Cure of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia . Member of the European Leukemia Net, the European Group of Investigators in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, the American Society of Hematology, and the European Society of Hematology.
