Our research focuses on plant ecophysiology and ecosystem ecology. We study carbon, nutrient and water relations of woody species under drought. We test, if grazing by livestock can mitigate drought stress in trees. We also study the interaction of canopy and roots in trees. In the field of ecosystem ecology, we focus on carbon sequestration, nutrient cycles and ecohydrological aspects, as affected by global change. We particularly focus on plant litter decomposition under dry conditions.
