Joon Tae Ahn

Tae-Jung Ahn received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in fiber optic engineering (photonic technologies) from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea, in August 2000 and August 2006, respectively. From September 2006 to early 2008, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) – Centre Énergie Matériaux et Télécommunications in Montreal/Varennes, QC, Canada. Since 2008, he has been with the Department of Photonic Engineering, Chosun University, South Korea, as a Professor. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 international papers and conference contributions, in the fields of optical frequency domain reflectometry, optical device characterization, pulse characterization, optical fiber technology, optical fiber sensors, fiber gratings, and optical communications. His professional interests include fiber gratings, fiber sensors, optical interferometry, and ultrafast optical signal processing. In particular, his expertise ranges from the fabrication of specialty optical fibers to ultrafast measurement system based on fiber optics.
